coraline by nastynoser coraline by nastynoser
for tafe we had to make a storyboard based on a ......story. but from what the brief said, it seemed it should'nt actually look like a story board. anyway, since i've always wanted the book 'coraline' to be made into a movie*, i used that. it is a bit sketchy since i had about two days to make it (and spent most of that time bludging).

coraline belongs to Neil Gaiman (funny, i only found that out the other day)

*I know now that there is a movie, it had only just been announced when I submitted this all those long years ago :P

The design for Coraline technically isn't right here either but it's nice to see fan art of the book.

~ This looks very lovely and I think it fits the story better than the art in the Coraline comic.
Great capture! ~

I love how you've made the Other Mother's hair just like it is in the book - like it's moving even when there is no wind to move it.

Thanks, unfortunately this is all I drew for the project. I'd love to make a comic or something of it one day (too bad there's already been a Coraline graphic novel, heh)

FINALLY.
I like the movie, but not nearly as much as the book, which I've loved since I was eight years old. It's good to actually see ANOTHER interpretation of it that the movie's. =.=

Eh, the movie was okay. It's something an 8-year-old would enjoy better (like my sister), since there were so many little kids in the room (I'm 14). :iconbabyplz:
I'm reading the book right now, and it's better, because it's darker.

Haha, I guess it just taps into that childhood fear of monsters replacing your parents, I always had nightmares about that sort of thing.

The movie hasn't even been released here yet, haven't seen it :P

Aw man, thank you so much.
I'm sick of seeing art from the movie. If they think it's so great why don't they take a little time and read the book?

I like your story board, it really goes along great with that scene. And your Other Mother is wonderful, deliciously creepy : )

Your artwork is beautiful. The feel to the story is so wonderful creepy. Do think you'll ever draw the rest of the story (based on the book not the movie) that would awesome.

I honestly think the book was wonderful and magical, but the movie depiction kind of ruins it a lot for me.
It was one of my favorite books!
seems like they're adding unnecessary characters.
:/ shame.

Actually, in the movie adaptation, the decision to add 'unnecessary' charaecters was quite necessary. Don't you think it would have been odd if poor Coraline was talking to no one but herself during the entire movie?
